Show in Leipzig closed. Made a performance for video which is begging to be edited, but haven’t had time because I spent it all moving to Berlin. It’s cold here. On the upside I’m getting good at starting coal fires.

2011? That’s not a year, that’s an expiration date on astronaut food.

On January 14th the Pilotenkueche residency final show, It’s Not Them It’s Us, opened at the Spinnerei studio space. I produced two pieces during this residency – the six-part Geomentropy video series, presented as a video installation, and One Thousand Means of Escape, which is an installation of 1000 paper airplanes in mid-flight. (This show is up until January 30th, although I’ll be destroying One Thousand Means of Escape in a performance for video on January 28th at 2pm. If you’re in Leipzig, come by.)

The last four months have all been about meticulous construction, and utter destruction. Don’t think I didn’t notice.

On February 1st I will be relocating to Berlin. Someone send it a message to brace itself.

This is the latest incarnation of disastrid.net. I figured after a few years the old site needed a revamp.

I was living in London from 2007 until 2010. I did lots of shows there, lots of projects, made lots of art. However, due to feeling a certain stagnation despite really enjoying the place, I packed it all in in July and moved to Lisbon, Portugal. Shortly after arriving I learned that I had a place in an artist residency, so after three months moved to Leipzig, Germany. I think I have a thing for cities that start with L.

From October 1 – January 15 I’m working in the Leipziger Baumwollspinnerei, an old cotton factory that’s been transformed into a pretty stunning venue for artist studios and arts organisations. I share a 300 square meter studio with six other artists, meaning that I have more space at my disposal than I know what to do with, so I’m using the time to build a massive installation called One Thousand Means of Escape. In the meantime I’ve made a video series called Geomentropy, which you can see on the Works page.
